Nehal Elmeligy (Sociology) Nehal is a Ph.D. student in Sociology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Nehal’s research aims to highlight the everyday “ordinary” feminist resistances in the public sphere of Cairene women and argues that these ordinary resistances are an essential stepping stone in paving the way for the normalization of Egyptian women’s presence in a space that is often politically and socially hostile to them. It also argues that these resistances pave the way for Egyptian women’s future political participation.
