Melissa Rae Goodnight is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and LAS Global Studies at UIUC. She studies issues of validity, representation, equity, and social justice in the use of different methodologies and theories (e.g., feminist, critical race, and culturally responsive) for conducting evaluation/research in the U.S. and Global South. Much of her recent scholarship has been based on extensive fieldwork in India. Dr. Goodnight teaches courses in qualitative and ethnographic research and evaluation. She is currently researching gender issues in educational fieldwork in rural India.
