Pronoy Rai is a Ph.D. student in geography at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His MA in Development Studies was received from Ohio University and his undergraduate degrees in Development Studies and Physical Sciences were received from the Indian Institute of Technology at Guwahati and Osmania University in Hyderabad, India. Pronoy's research interests include development and migration, agrarian studies, and geographies of gender and sexuality. Pronoy’s dissertation examines the impact of seasonal migration of farm workers in rural Maharashtra, India, on social change in the home villages of the workers.
